Description

Pisano Cisplatino Tannat is produced by Pisano Family Vineyards in the Canelones region of Uruguay, where the family has cultivated vines since the early 20th century after emigrating from Italy. The estate is widely regarded as one of Uruguay’s pioneering quality wineries, focusing on low yield vineyards and expressive varietal wines that reflect the Atlantic influenced climate of southern Uruguay. Vineyards benefit from cooling maritime breezes and are planted on clay and limestone rich soils that help retain moisture while contributing structure and depth. The family follows sustainable vineyard practices with extensive manual work and minimal intervention, and the wine is generally suitable for vegan consumers.

This wine is made from Tannat, Uruguay’s signature grape variety, harvested by hand from selected estate vineyards. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with careful extraction to soften the naturally firm tannins, followed by ageing in oak barrels for several months to add texture and complexity. The wine displays aromas of blackberry, black plum and dark cherry alongside notes of cocoa, spice, tobacco and dried herbs. The palate is rich and structured with ripe tannins, balanced acidity and a long savoury finish. It pairs particularly well with grilled steak, roast lamb, barbecued meats and mature cheeses.
