There is a real sense of place to this Chardonnay, coming from Forrest Vineyard in Wilyabrup, where Margaret River’s maritime climate meets ancient, gravelly soils. Cool ocean breezes temper the summer heat, giving the fruit plenty of time to build flavour without losing its natural acidity. Nocturne takes advantage of this balance to produce a Chardonnay with both generosity and restraint, firmly rooted in the coastal character of the region.
The 2022 vintage brings together ripe nectarine and white peach with grapefruit, lemon zest and subtle savoury nuances. A fine, almost creamy texture gives the wine weight, but bright acidity keeps everything poised and energetic. Gentle oak contributes seasoning rather than sweetness, allowing the fruit and underlying mineral character to remain prominent. Focused and quietly complex, it finishes with impressive length and freshness, making it equally rewarding now or after further bottle age.
