Nanua is a small family producer based in the Imereti region of western Georgia, focusing on traditional Georgian varieties and low intervention winemaking. The vineyards are located around Terjola and neighbouring villages in a humid, temperate climate influenced by the Black Sea, where warm summers and moderate rainfall support slow, balanced ripening. Soils are predominantly limestone, clay and alluvial deposits, contributing freshness and mineral character. The estate follows sustainable and bio-organic vineyard practices, including manual harvesting, minimal chemical treatments and biodiversity-focused farming. The 2024 vintage in Imereti produced vibrant, aromatic whites with fresh acidity following a balanced growing season.
Nanua Tetri Kamuri Tsitska 2024 is made from 100% Tsitska, an indigenous white grape variety prized for its acidity and delicate aromatics. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented with wild yeasts and is typically made with a relatively gentle skin maceration compared to many traditional Georgian amber wines. The wine usually spends around 5 to 14 days on the skins, depending on the vintage conditions and desired structure. After fermentation, the wine is generally aged in qvevri for approximately 6 months on fine lees before bottling. This maturation in buried clay vessels helps develop texture and complexity while preserving the freshness and mineral character typical of Tsitska from Imereti. The wines are usually made with minimal sulphur and without filtration. It shows aromas of citrus, green apple and white flowers with subtle herbal and saline notes. The palate is fresh, textured and mineral with bright acidity and a long finish. It pairs well with seafood, salads, soft cheeses and vegetable dishes. Nanua is highly regarded for their authenticity and terroir expression.
