Moulin de la Gardette Gigondas 2019 Half Bottle

Moulin de la Gardette is a family run estate in the Gigondas appellation of France’s Southern Rhône, cared for by Jean Baptiste Meunier, whose family has tended these vineyards for generations. The domaine farms approximately 10 hectares of old vines on the rocky slopes of La Gardette and neighbouring lieux dits, planted on soils of marl, clay, limestone and Miocene sands. Certified organic since 2012, the estate follows sustainable viticulture with minimal intervention in both vineyard and cellar, expressing true Gigondas terroir.

The 2019 Gigondas Tradition is a classic Southern Rhône blend of 80% Grenache, 10% Mourvèdre and 10% Syrah, hand harvested from mature vines. After carefully managed fermentation with indigenous yeasts and extended maceration, the wine is aged for around 18 months in neutral casks and used oak barrels to build structure without heavy oak influence. Full-bodied and elegant, it shows ripe blackberry, garrigue herbs, pepper and spice, with fine tannins and vibrant acidity. Its savoury depth and complexity pair beautifully with roast lamb, game, stews and mature cheeses.

Moulin de la Gardette Gigondas La Cuvée Tradition is rich and luxurious. The aromas of dark blackberry and plum surrounded by a lovely soft palate with hints of anise and spices finished by long aftertaste and sweet, ripe tannins. It should drink well for the next five years or more. Dark red. Forest berries, black cherry, black currant, leather, tobacco, oak in the aroma. Dry with tobacco, cherry, oak, mint. Potent.
