MOB, short for Moreira, Olazabal and Borges, is a collaboration between winemakers Jorge Moreira, Francisco Olazabal and Jorge Serôdio Borges, three leading figures in Portuguese wine. Their project is based in the Dão, primarily around the Serra da Estrela sub region in northern Dão, near villages Seia and Gouveia. Vineyards sit at 400-550 metres altitude on granitic soils with sandy texture, providing excellent drainage and freshness. The region’s mountain influence brings warm days and cool nights, preserving acidity and aromatic precision.
MOB Lote 3 Tinto is typically a field blend dominated by traditional Dão varieties including Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Jaen. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel with gentle extraction, followed by ageing for around 12 months in used French oak barrels to preserve purity rather than oak influence. The wine shows bright cherry, wild berry and violet aromas with subtle spice and mineral notes. The palate is fresh and elegant with fine tannins. It pairs well with roast lamb, grilled pork, charcuterie and mushroom dishes.
