Miolo Chardonnay Reserva Campanha
Miolo Wine Group traces its roots back to Italian immigrant Giuseppe Miolo, who arrived in Brazil in 1897 and began planting vines in the Serra Gaúcha region, laying the foundation for one of the country’s most important wine producers. Today the group, formally established in 1989, is a leading family owned winery with multiple estates across Brazil. This includes the Campanha Meridional region, close to the Uruguayan border, where the grapes for this wine are grown. The estate farms its own vineyards with a focus on sustainable viticulture, though it is not certified organic or biodynamic. The Campanha area sits in the southernmost state of Rio Grande do Sul and features a warm, temperate climate with soils that are predominantly sandy-clay with good drainage, encouraging full ripeness balanced by natural acidity, producing expressive, fruit driven wines.
Miolo Chardonnay Reserva Campanha is made with grapes sourced from estate vineyards and harvested both manually and mechanically. After gentle destemming and light skin maceration, the grapes are pressed and fermented at controlled temperatures in stainless steel, with a portion fermented in French oak barrels. The wine is then aged on its fine lees for around four months in French oak, adding texture and subtle complexity without overwhelming the fruit. Malolactic fermentation is typically avoided to preserve freshness. The wine shows notes of citrus, ripe apple and tropical fruit alongside hints of vanilla and toast, with a rounded texture and balanced acidity. It pairs well with grilled chicken, creamy pasta dishes, seafood and moderately rich cheeses.
