Miolo Alisios Touriga Nacional Tempranillo
Miolo Wine Group is one of Brazil’s most historic and influential family run wine producers, with origins dating back to Italian immigrant Giuseppe Miolo’s arrival in 1897 and the first plantings in Rio Grande do Sul. Over a century later the group has grown to encompass multiple estates, including the Seival Estate in the Campanha Meridional region, a promising area at around the 31st parallel south known for quality red wine production. The Campanha vineyards benefit from warm, sub humid conditions and predominantly sandy clay soils that give ripe fruit concentration with freshness, making them well suited to Tempranillo and Touriga Nacional grapes. Miolo employs sustainable viticulture practices across its vineyards and continuously works to reduce environmental impact.
The Miolo Alisios Touriga Nacional?&?Tempranillo 2023 is a red blend crafted from these two classic varietals, typically in a roughly balanced combination that showcases Tempranillo’s elegance alongside the structure and colour depth contributed by Touriga Nacional. Grapes are harvested from Seival Estate’s Campanha vineyards, gently fermented to retain primary fruit aromas, and usually see a period of maturation in stainless steel or neutral vessels to preserve freshness rather than heavy oak influence. The wine displays a medium body and vibrant ruby colour with violet hints, and offers expressive aromas of dark and red fruits such as plum, cherry and currant, with subtle spice and tobacco nuances. On the palate it is harmonious with moderate acidity and smooth, integrated tannins, making it versatile with food. Typical tasting notes include ripe berry flavours, gentle spice complexity and a lingering finish that complements grilled or roasted meats, hearty stews, tomato based pasta dishes, pork and semi hard cheeses.
