Maximas La Coste de Los Andes 2019
La Coste de Los Andes was born from the acclaimed Château La Coste estate when its owners extended their winemaking vision from Provence to Argentina’s high altitude Uco Valley, combining French craftsmanship with Mendoza’s dramatic Andes foothill terroir. Maximas represents the pinnacle of this project, crafted from vines in Los Chacayes with well drained alluvial, sandy and clay soils that capture cool nights and intense sunshine. The vineyards are farmed with sustainability in mind and certified organic, with careful hand harvesting and sorting. The 2019 vintage in Mendoza was characterised by exceptional ripeness, balance and concentration, producing wines of depth and structure that speak to the region’s high altitude elegance.
The Maximas La Coste de Los Andes 2019 is a refined red blend of approximately 80% Malbec, 12% Cabernet Sauvignon and 8% Cabernet Franc, fermented separately by variety and aged for around 12 months in French oak barrels followed by several months in concrete vats to harmonise texture. Showing rich blackberry, dark plum and spice with polished tannins and vibrant acidity, it is drinking well now yet has the structure to age gracefully over the next decade. Pair with grilled ribeye, slow roasted lamb or mature cheeses. Although published scores for this specific vintage are limited, Maximas and its sibling blends from La Coste de Los Andes consistently earn high acclaim from critics, with reviewers highlighting their power, balance and ageing potential.
