Matrot Bourgogne Pinot Noir
Domaine Matrot is a family owned estate based in Meursault in Burgundy’s Côte de Beaune, with origins dating back to the early 20th century when Joseph Matrot established the domaine. Today it is run by third and fourth generations of the Matrot family, who farm vineyards sustainably, having embraced organic fertilisers and respectful vineyard practices for decades. The estate works with clay limestone soils around Puligny Montrachet and Meursault, allowing Pinot Noir to express cleary the terroir.
The Bourgogne Pinot Noir is made from hand harvested grapes and fermented with natural yeasts following a period of cold soak and gentle maceration. After fermentation the wine is aged for around 15 months in French oak barrels, with 10% being new, followed by a few months in stainless steel before bottling. Medium bodied with bright red cherry, raspberry and subtle spice, it shows soft tannins and lively acidity with a mineral lift. It pairs beautifully with roast chicken, pork, mushroom risotto, grilled vegetables and mild cheeses, offering classic Burgundy balance and elegance.
