Massaya Terrasses de Baalbeck 2020 is a red wine from Massaya, a renowned estate in Lebanon’s Bekaa Valley founded by the Ghosn family with French vigneron partners. The grapes for this terroir driven wine are grown on chalky clay soils on the foothills of Mount Lebanon around Hadath Baalbeck at over 1000m altitude, where a dry Mediterranean climate with cool nights encourages balanced fruit and freshness.
The 2020 vintage is a classic Rhône style blend of 40% Grenache Noir, 30% Syrah and 30% Mourvèdre, all hand picked, fully destemmed and fermented in temperature controlled oak vats for 20–30 days before being aged for 20–22 months in large oak vats without fining or filtration. It shows a medium ruby colour with aromas of fresh scrubland and subtle spice, supported by elegant tannins and a persistent finish. Serve at around 16–18°C with grilled lamb, roast beef, rich stews.
