Produced by Marthe Henry, a Meursault-based vigneronne and granddaughter of the respected grower Pierre Boillot, this Montagny 2023 reflects both deep Burgundian roots and a fresh contemporary perspective. After an early career in journalism, Henry returned to her family’s winemaking heritage in 2013, studying viticulture and oenology in Beaune before gaining experience with producers including Pierre-Henri Rougeot and Jean-Yves Devevey. She launched her own micro-négociant project in 2017 and has since become one of Burgundy’s most closely watched young talents, producing small quantities of terroir-driven wines from carefully selected vineyard sites across the region. Her approach centres on sustainable viticulture, minimal intervention and patient élevage, allowing each terroir to speak with clarity and precision.

Made from 100% Chardonnay grown on the limestone and clay soils of Montagny, the wine is crafted in a restrained Burgundian style that prioritises purity and site expression. Fermentation and ageing are carefully managed to preserve freshness while building texture and complexity. The 2023 vintage displays aromas of lemon zest, white peach and pear alongside notes of citrus blossom, wet stone and subtle hazelnut. The palate is vibrant and finely balanced, combining bright acidity with a supple texture and a pronounced chalky mineral backbone characteristic of the appellation. Elegant and energetic, it reflects both the classical foundations of Meursault and the contemporary vision that has established Marthe Henry as one of Burgundy’s most promising young winemakers.
