Marthe Henry Bourgogne Aligote 2023
Produced by Marthe Henry, a Meursault-based vigneronne and granddaughter of the respected grower Pierre Boillot. After beginning her professional life in journalism, Henry returned to her family’s winegrowing roots in 2013, studying in Beaune before working with respected producers including Pierre-Henri Rougeot and Jean-Yves Devevey. Since launching her own project in 2017, she has built a reputation for producing small-production wines that emphasise terroir, precision and authenticity. Working with carefully selected vineyard parcels and a low-intervention approach, she seeks to showcase the individuality of each site and grape variety.
Made from 100% Aligoté, the wine is vinified with a light touch to preserve freshness, energy and varietal character. Fermentation and ageing are designed to enhance texture while maintaining the vibrant acidity that defines great Aligoté. The 2023 vintage shows aromas of lemon, green apple and pear alongside notes of white flowers, crushed stone and subtle citrus zest. The palate is bright and focused, with crisp acidity, excellent tension and a refreshing mineral edge that carries through to the finish. Pure and expressive, it highlights the growing quality and reputation of Burgundy’s traditional white grape, pairing beautifully with shellfish, oysters, goat’s cheese and light seasonal dishes.
