Marco Bonfante is a family owned winery based in Nizza Monferrato, in the heart of Piemonte's renowned Barbera growing region. The Bonfante family has cultivated vineyards for generations, combining traditional knowledge with modern winemaking to produce wines that express the character of the local terroir. The vineyards are situated on the rolling hills of Monferrato, where calcareous clay and marl soils provide structure, freshness and complexity. Benefiting from a continental climate with warm days and cool nights, the grapes achieve excellent ripeness while retaining natural acidity. The estate follows sustainable vineyard practices focused on environmental stewardship and vineyard health.
Marco Bonfante Barbera d'Asti is made from 100% Barbera, Piemonte's signature red grape variety. The grapes are fermented in temperature controlled stainless steel tanks to preserve purity of fruit and varietal character, followed by a period of maturation that enhances balance and softness. The wine displays aromas of ripe cherry, blackberry and plum, accompanied by notes of violet, sweet spice and liquorice. The palate is vibrant and fruit driven with bright acidity, supple tannins and a smooth, persistent finish. An excellent partner for pasta dishes, charcuterie, roasted meats, mushroom risotto and mature cheeses.
