After many years working alongside Dirk Niepoort, where he helped craft some of the Douro’s most acclaimed wines, Luis Seabra founded his own project with a focus on authenticity, traditional Portuguese varieties and the expression of vineyard character. The Xisto Ilimitado range aims to represent the wider identity of the Douro, bringing together fruit from different vineyard sites rather than focusing on a single parcel. The region’s dramatic schist landscapes, steep vineyards and dry continental climate provide the foundation for wines that combine freshness, elegance and remarkable depth.

Made from a traditional blend of indigenous Douro red grape varieties from old vineyards, Xisto Ilimitado Tinto reflects the complexity and heritage of the region’s historic plantings. The blend is based on traditional varieties adapted to the harsh conditions of the Douro, allowing the wine to express both the intensity of the region and the finesse that defines Luis Seabra’s style. Crafted with a restrained approach, the wine focuses on purity, freshness and texture rather than excessive extraction. It reveals aromas of black cherry, red berries and plum, complemented by floral notes of violet, Mediterranean herbs, spice and subtle earthy nuances. On the palate, it is elegant and energetic, with vibrant acidity, fine tannins, a savoury mineral character and a long, balanced finish.
