Luis Anxo Rodriguez A Torna Dos Pasas Tinto 2023

A Torna dos Pasas Tinto 2023 is produced by Luis Anxo Rodríguez Vázquez, a small family grower based in Arnoia in Galicia’s D.O. Ribeiro, a historic Atlantic influenced wine region in north west Spain. Founded in 1988, the estate spans just 2.7 hectares across numerous tiny hillside plots, focusing on the recovery of indigenous grape varieties and low intervention viticulture. The vineyards are planted on steep slopes of sandy, granitic soils, which impart freshness and a distinctive mineral character.

The 2023 vintage is a field blend of approximately 40% Caíño Tinto, 40% Ferrol and 20% Brancellao, harvested by hand from old vines. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel following cold maceration, before ageing for around six months in used oak barrels to preserve purity and texture. The wine is light and elegant, with notes of raspberry, cranberry and blueberry, alongside violet, black pepper, damp forest floor and a smoky mineral edge. Fresh acidity and fine tannins make it well suited to grilled meats or earthy vegetable dishes.
