Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia Reserva 2013 Half Bottle
Bodegas R. López de Heredia is one of Rioja’s oldest family run estates founded in 1877 and still overseen by descendants of the founding family. The Viña Tondonia vineyard lies on the right bank of the Ebro River in Rioja Alta, with alluvial clay and limestone soils that lend structure and minerality.
The 2013 Viña Tondonia Reserva is a classic Rioja blend of approximately 70% Tempranillo, 20% Garnacha and 10% Graciano and Mazuelo. After fermentation with indigenous yeasts in old oak vats, the wine is aged for at least six years in used American oak barrels, racked regularly and bottled unfiltered, followed by further bottle ageing. Medium bodied with aromas of dried red fruit, spice, leather and cedar, it shows vibrant acidity, fine tannins and a long, complex finish. It pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled meats, mature cheeses and rich stews.
