Leeuwin Estate Prelude Chardonnay 2022

Produced by Leeuwin Estate in the Margaret River region of Western Australia, this wine comes from one of the country’s most respected family owned wineries. Established in the 1970s by the Horgan family with guidance from Robert Mondavi, Leeuwin Estate is internationally recognised for refined Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon shaped by Margaret River’s maritime climate. Vineyards benefit from cooling Indian Ocean breezes and are planted on gravelly loam soils over clay, providing excellent drainage and balanced ripening conditions. The estate follows sustainable vineyard practices with careful site management and low intervention farming, and the wine is suitable for vegan consumers.

Made from 100% Chardonnay sourced from estate vineyards, fermentation takes place in French oak barrels with regular lees stirring to build texture and complexity. The wine is aged for around 10 months in a combination of new and seasoned French oak, balancing freshness with subtle oak integration. Aromas of lemon curd, white peach and nectarine combine with notes of toasted almond, citrus blossom and gentle spice. The palate is vibrant yet creamy with bright acidity, layered stone fruit flavours and a long mineral finish. It pairs beautifully with lobster, roast chicken, creamy seafood dishes and soft cheeses.
