Produced by Bodegas La Val in the Condado do Tea subzone of Rías Baixas, La Val Condado do Tea is a tribute to the traditional white wine blends of southern Galicia. Founded in 1985, La Val was one of the pioneering estates of the Rías Baixas DO, helping to establish the region’s reputation for high-quality Atlantic white wines while placing a strong emphasis on estate-owned vineyards. The wine comes from Finca Porto, a historic 4-hectare vineyard planted on alluvial soils of river stones and pebbles near the Miño River. Located further inland than the cooler coastal areas of Rías Baixas, Condado do Tea enjoys warmer conditions that allow varieties such as Treixadura and Loureiro to reach greater ripeness while maintaining the freshness and mineral character that define Galician whites.
A traditional blend of 60% Albariño, 30% Treixadura and 10% Loureiro, La Val Condado do Tea is crafted by fermenting each variety separately with vineyard yeasts before creating the final blend, preserving the individual character of each grape. Aged on its fine lees in stainless steel tanks, the wine develops additional texture and complexity while retaining its vibrant freshness. Aromas of white peach, ripe pear and citrus blossom are complemented by notes of orange zest, wild herbs, white flowers and a subtle saline minerality. The palate is elegant and balanced, combining Albariño’s natural acidity with the roundness of Treixadura and the floral lift of Loureiro, leading to a long, fresh finish. A refined expression of Condado do Tea’s traditional style, it pairs beautifully with shellfish, grilled fish, rice dishes, poultry and fresh cheeses.
