Description

Comando G was founded by Fernando García and Daniel Gómez Jiménez-Landi with the ambition of restoring historic Garnacha vineyards in Spain’s Sierra de Gredos. Working exclusively with organically farmed old bush vines, the project focuses on tiny mountain parcels cultivated by hand on steep granite slopes. The vineyards lie between 800 and 1,200 metres above sea level around Rozas de Puerto Real and neighbouring villages in the Sierra de Gredos DO, where decomposed granite soils, a continental climate and significant diurnal temperature variation produce wines of remarkable freshness, perfume and mineral precision. The wines are crafted with a low-intervention philosophy and are suitable for vegans.

La Bruja de Rozas 2023 is made from 100% Garnacha sourced from old vine parcels averaging 50 to 80 years of age. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented with indigenous yeasts, with a proportion of whole bunches depending on the vintage. The wine is matured for around 9 months in large French oak foudres and concrete vats, preserving the purity and elegance of the fruit rather than imparting oak character. Bright and expressive, it offers aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry, red cherry and crushed violets, layered with Mediterranean herbs, white pepper and a distinctive granite-driven minerality. Silky, energetic and beautifully balanced, it pairs wonderfully with roast lamb, grilled pork, charcuterie, mushroom dishes and roasted vegetables.
