Kracher Beerenauslese Cuvée 2021
Produced by Alois Kracher in the Burgenland region of eastern Austria, Kracher Beerenauslese Cuvée comes from one of the world’s most renowned producers of noble sweet wines. The Kracher estate is based around the Seewinkel area near Lake Neusiedl, where a unique microclimate created by the shallow lake and surrounding wetlands encourages regular development of botrytis cinerea. This allows for the production of intensely concentrated dessert wines with remarkable purity and balance. Vineyards are planted on sandy, gravelly and saline soils that contribute freshness and aromatic lift. The estate follows sustainable vineyard practices with meticulous selection of botrytised berries..
Made from a blend of Welschriesling and Chardonnay, the grapes are hand harvested in multiple selective passes once fully affected by noble rot. Fermentation takes place slowly in stainless steel and neutral vessels to preserve purity and precision. The wine is aged briefly to maintain freshness rather than oxidative development. It shows intensely expressive aromas of apricot, pineapple and candied citrus peel alongside honey, mango, orange blossom and subtle spice. The palate is rich, unctuous and concentrated yet lifted by vibrant acidity and saline freshness, giving excellent balance and persistence. It pairs beautifully with fruit-based desserts, blue cheeses, foie gras and nut pastries.
