Karavitakis Elia Vidiano 2024

Karavitakis Elia Vidiano 2024 reflects the ethos of Karavitakis Winery, a family run estate in Pontikiana Village on the island of Crete, Greece. The Karavitakis family has been growing grapes in the region for over 80 years, modernising the estate since 1998 with a focus on local varieties such as Vidiano and Vilana and sustainable viticulture that respects the island’s rugged terroir. Elia Vidiano showcases the distinctive character of Cretan terroir with warm days and cooling sea cooled nights.

The 2024 Elia Vidiano is crafted from 100% Vidiano grapes sourced from north facing plots at about 640 metres altitude, capturing bright fruit and mineral complexity. After harvest, fermentation takes place in temperature controlled stainless steel before the wine spends around six months maturing in oak barrels, adding depth while preserving freshness. It displays a medium lemon green hue with layered aromas of apricot, peach, grapefruit and bergamot. On the palate it is medium bodied with crisp acidity, juicy stone fruit and a lingering mineral finish. Serve chilled with grilled fish, oily seafood, pork with lemon sauce or creamy pasta dishes to enhance its aromatic richness.
