Produced by João Barbosa in Portugal’s Setúbal Peninsula, it reflects one of the country’s most historic traditions of fortified dessert wine production. The region lies south of Lisbon and benefits from a warm Mediterranean climate moderated by Atlantic breezes, allowing Moscatel grapes to achieve high aromatic ripeness while retaining natural acidity. Vineyards are planted on sandy, limestone-rich soils that contribute freshness and help moderate vigour in the warm conditions. The estate works with carefully selected fruit from traditional vineyards and follows low intervention winemaking practices, with the wine suitable for vegan consumers.

Made from 100% Moscatel de Setúbal (Muscat of Alexandria), the grapes are harvested at optimal ripeness and undergo skin maceration before fermentation is stopped through the addition of grape spirit, preserving natural sweetness and aromatic intensity. The wine is then aged in a combination of stainless steel and seasoned oak barrels, allowing gradual integration and development of complexity. It shows expressive aromas of orange blossom, candied citrus peel and apricot alongside honey, raisin, marmalade and subtle nutty spice. The palate is rich and luscious yet lifted by fresh acidity, giving balance and a long, perfumed finish. It pairs beautifully with almond pastries, fruit desserts, blue cheeses and citrus tarts.
