Izadi Rioja Reserva 2020

Bodegas Izadi was founded in 1987 in the village of Villabuena de Álava, in the heart of Rioja Alavesa. The winery works with a network of small, old vineyards spread across the triangle formed by Villabuena, Samaniego and Ábalos, where the Atlantic-influenced climate and elevated vineyards help preserve freshness and elegance. The vines grow predominantly on well drained clay-limestone soils, producing wines with purity, balance and a distinctive sense of place. The estate is committed to sustainable viticulture, promoting biodiversity, responsible water management and environmentally conscious vineyard practices.

Izadi Rioja Reserva 2020 is made from 100% Tempranillo sourced from low yielding old vines with an average age of around 45 years. The grapes undergo temperature controlled fermentation in stainless steel before the wine is aged for 16 months in a combination of French and American oak barrels, followed by further bottle ageing prior to release. It offers aromas of ripe blackberry, black cherry and plum layered with vanilla, cedar, cocoa and sweet spice. Silky tannins and fresh acidity provide excellent balance, making it an ideal partner for roast lamb, grilled beef, Iberian pork, game and mature Manchego cheese.
