Ipacs Szabó Birtok is a family run winery in the Villány wine region of southern Hungary, led by István Szabó, a winemaker with deep roots in the region’s viticultural traditions. The estate farms vineyards planted with both international and local varieties, benefiting from Villány’s warm continental climate and varied soils of clay, loess and limestone. Vineyard practices focus on quality with careful hand harvesting and attentive canopy management.

Inni Jó 2023 is a dry red blend of approximately 62% Kékfrankos (Blaufränkisch) and 38% Cabernet Franc, sourced from vineyards near the cellar. The grapes are harvested and vinified together “in the old-traditional way,” as winemaker Ipacs-Szabó recalls. The name is a play on words that literally means “drinking (is) good,” and refers to the fact that this is an easy (and good) drinking wine. There are tasty blueberry flavors and spiciness on the palate and in the aromas. Cabernet Franc adds richness to the wine, and Kékfrankos lightens it, gives balance, and makes it spicy and juicy. This versatile wine pairs well with grilled red meats, paprika-spiced dishes, hearty stews and mature cheeses, capturing the rich character of Villány terroir.
