Hudelot Noellat Bourgogne Passetoutgrains 2023
Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is a family run estate based in Vosne-Romanée with a reputation for producing elegant, terroir focused Burgundy wines across both regional and grand cru appellations. Managed today by Charles Van Canneyt, the domaine combines traditional Burgundian practices with a sustainable, low intervention philosophy in both vineyard and cellar. The Bourgogne Passetoutgrains comes from vineyards planted on clay and limestone soils around the Côte de Nuits, where the combination of cooler exposures and well drained sites helps preserve freshness and aromatic lift. Passetoutgrains is a historic Burgundian appellation that blends Pinot Noir with Gamay, traditionally producing wines that are vibrant, fruit driven and approachable in youth while still reflecting the finesse of Burgundy terroir. The 2023 vintage produced supple, expressive reds with ripe berry fruit, fresh acidity and excellent balance following a warm but relatively even growing season.
Hudelot-Noëllat Bourgogne Passetoutgrains 2023 is a blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay, vinified with a gentle approach to preserve purity and freshness. Fermentation takes place with careful extraction before ageing in older French oak barrels and tank for several months to soften the texture without overwhelming the fruit character. The wine displays bright aromas of red cherry, raspberry, wild strawberry and violet alongside subtle spice and earthy undertones. The palate is silky, juicy and energetic with soft tannins and lively acidity, making it highly versatile with food. It pairs particularly well with charcuterie, roast chicken, pork dishes, grilled vegetables and soft cheeses. Designed primarily for earlier drinking, it is already showing beautifully and should continue to drink well over the next three to five years. Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat is not officially certified organic or vegan, though the estate follows sustainable vineyard practices and minimal-intervention winemaking throughout its range.
