Heimann Bati-Kereszt 2020/21
Heimann & Fiai is a family-run estate in Hungary’s Szekszárd region, cultivating 22 hectares of vineyards with a focus on sustainable viticulture. Herbicides and insecticides were eliminated in the early 2000s, and the estate began transitioning to organic practices in 2014, with full certification expected in 2025. The Bati Kereszt vineyard, planted in 2002, is a protected north-facing slope with loess over red clay soils, nurturing elegant, expressive Kékfrankos from mature vines.
The Bati Kereszt Kékfrankos 2020/21 is hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, with gentle pressing and minimal intervention. It was aged for around 11 months in large Hungarian oak barrels. 100% Kékfrankos, grapes from this vineyard are harvested last to achieve full ripeness, resulting in a medium bodied wine with delicate aromas of sour cherry, red berries and florals, lively acidity, soft tannins, and a refined, aromatic finish.
