Heimann Bati-Kereszt 2020
Heimann & Fiai is a family-run estate in Hungary’s Szekszárd region, cultivating 22 hectares of vineyards with a strong focus on sustainability. They eliminated herbicides and insecticides in the early 2000s, began transitioning to organic viticulture in 2014, and expect full certification from 2025. Their Bati Kereszt vineyard, planted in 2002, is a protected north-facing slope with loess over red clay soils, nurturing elegant, expressive Kékfrankos from mature vines.
The Bati Kereszt Kékfrankos 2020 is hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, with carefully gentle extraction and delicate pressing no pumping! It was then aged in large Hungarian oak barrels for around 11 months. During every harvest, the Kékfrankos grown here is the last one to be picked. It has a more delicate structure in both aroma and taste, characterized by floral notes, refreshing fruit, and lightness. Expect aromas of sour cherry, red berries and florals, followed by lively acidity, soft tannins and an intensely aromatic, refined finish.
