Domaine Heidi Schröck & Söhne is a family estate in Rust, Burgenland, Austria, with over 300 years of winemaking history. Heidi Schröck has led the estate since 1983, championing regional varieties and sustainable viticulture. The vineyards lie on sandy loam with mica schist and gneiss soils, benefiting from abundant sunlight and a continental climate. The estate avoids herbicides and insecticides, producing wines with minimal intervention. Junge Löwen 2022 is certified vegan friendly, reflecting careful cellar practices and environmentally conscious vineyard management.

The 2022 Junge Löwen is a blend of approximately 85% Blaufränkisch and 15% St Laurent, hand harvested from Rust Hill vineyards. Each variety is fermented separately with gentle extraction, followed by malolactic fermentation and ageing in large old oak barrels and stainless steel tanks for 8–10 months. The wine shows vibrant red berry and violet aromas with peppery spice, smooth tannins and fine minerality. It pairs perfectly with grilled meats, paprika-spiced dishes, roasted vegetables and aged cheeses, showcasing the elegant yet expressive character of Burgenland blends.
