GOBILLARD ROSE MAGNUM
Champagne J.M. Gobillard & Fils is a respected family owned house based in Hautvillers, the cradle of Champagne. Founded in 1933, the estate cultivates around 30 hectares of Premier Cru vineyards in the Vallée de la Marne, primarily planted with Pinot Meunier with some Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. The vineyards are sustainably managed with careful soil preservation and minimal chemical use. The Vallée de la Marne is characterised by chalk, clay and flint-rich soils with excellent drainage which combined with the south-facing slopes along the Marne River, producing wines of generosity and finesse.
The J.M. Gobillard Rosé Millésimé 2016 Magnum is composed of 60% Chardonnay, 40% Pinot Noir and a small addition of still red wine for colour. After the primary fermentation, it undergoes secondary fermentation in bottle and spends over five years ageing on the lees before disgorgement, creating refined complexity and creamy texture. Aromas of wild strawberry, raspberry and rose petal unfold with notes of pastry and spice. The palate is elegant and balanced with fine bubbles and a long, mineral driven finish. Perfect with salmon tartare, duck breast or berry pavlova.
