Gianni Gagliardo Paulin Dolcetto d'Alba 2021

Gianni Gagliardo is a respected family estate in Piedmont’s Langhe hills, with roots dating back to 1847 and now run by the Colla family. Based in La Morra, the winery farms vineyards across Barolo and Alba, focusing on indigenous varieties and precision viticulture. The Dolcetto for the Paulin bottling comes from hillside sites in the Dolcetto d’Alba DOC, where calcareous clay and marl soils provide structure and freshness. The estate follows sustainable vineyard practices with careful canopy management and low yields. The 2021 vintage in Piedmont was excellent, with balanced conditions producing wines of freshness, purity and fine structure.

Paulin Dolcetto d’Alba 2021 is made from 100% Dolcetto, fermented in stainless steel with controlled temperatures to preserve its bright fruit character. The wine is aged briefly in tank and bottle rather than oak, maintaining its youthful, vibrant style. It shows aromas of black cherry, plum and almond with a hint of violet. The palate is soft and rounded with gentle tannins and refreshing acidity. This approachable red pairs beautifully with pasta dishes, pizza, charcuterie and light meat dishes, making it a versatile everyday wine.
