Description

Weingut Oekonomierat Johann Geil is a family owned estate based in Bechtheim, in Germany’s Rheinhessen region, with a winemaking history dating back several generations. Today, the Geil family is known for producing expressive wines that reflect the character of the Wonnegau landscape. The vineyards are sustainably managed with careful attention to soil health and vineyard biodiversity. Pinot Noir is grown on limestone, loess and clay rich soils, where warm days and cool nights help preserve freshness, elegance and varietal character.

Geil Pinot Noir 2023 is made from 100% Pinot Noir. The grapes are carefully harvested and fermented to preserve the delicate fruit character of the variety, followed by ageing in a combination of stainless steel and oak to add texture while maintaining freshness. The wine shows aromas of red cherry, raspberry and strawberry with subtle floral notes, gentle spice and earthy undertones. Elegant and approachable, with fine tannins and bright acidity, it pairs beautifully with roast poultry, grilled salmon, mushroom dishes, charcuterie and soft cheeses.
