G.D. Vajra Langhe Riesling 2022

Produced by G.D. Vajra in the Langhe region of Piedmont, this Riesling comes from one of Barolo’s most respected family estates, known for precision, elegance and certified organic farming. The Vajra family works with high-altitude vineyards around the Barolo hills, where cool Alpine influenced breezes help preserve natural acidity and aromatic definition. The Riesling parcels are planted on limestone and marl rich soils that bring tension, linearity and a fine mineral backbone to the wine.

Made from 100% Riesling, fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts in stainless steel and neutral vessels to preserve purity and site expression, followed by a period of lees ageing to enhance texture while maintaining clarity and focus. The wine shows expressive aromas of lime, green apple and white peach alongside floral notes, wet stone and subtle flinty mineral tones. The palate is precise and vibrant with bright acidity, refined fruit concentration and a long, saline finish. Rather than overt development, it currently shows youthful energy and detail, with the structure and balance to evolve gracefully over time. It pairs beautifully with shellfish, sushi, freshwater fish, light poultry and spicy Asian cuisine.
