Produced by Fontodi in the celebrated Conca d’Oro amphitheatre of Panzano in Chianti Classico, Fontodi Bianco is one of Tuscany’s most distinctive white wines and a rare expression of Trebbiano Toscano from one of the region’s benchmark estates. Owned by the Manetti family since 1968, Fontodi has become internationally renowned for its organically farmed vineyards and uncompromising pursuit of terroir expression. While Sangiovese remains the estate’s focus, Giovanni Manetti has long believed that old-vine Trebbiano, cultivated on the galestro soils of Panzano and cropped to naturally low yields, is capable of producing a white wine of remarkable complexity, structure and longevity. Produced only in limited quantities, Fontodi Bianco has become one of Tuscany’s most sought-after white wines.
Made from 100% Trebbiano Toscano harvested from mature vines, the 2023 vintage is fermented and matured in French oak barriques before extended ageing on its fine lees, building texture while preserving the grape’s natural freshness and mineral character. Aromas of preserved lemon, yellow apple and white peach are layered with notes of chamomile, wild herbs, almond, flint and subtle spice. The palate is precise and beautifully structured, combining vibrant acidity with a broad, savoury texture and a pronounced saline minerality that carries through a long, persistent finish. Far removed from conventional Trebbiano, Fontodi Bianco is a complex, age-worthy white whose balance and depth will continue to evolve beautifully in bottle.
