Fog Mountain Merlot

This Merlot is part of the Fog Mountain range from the Boisset Collection, a family of wines that celebrates the influence of California’s iconic mountain ranges and cooling coastal fog on viticulture. The fruit is sourced from sustainably farmed vineyards throughout California, with a focus on the cooler, fog swept North Coast appellations. These vineyards benefit from a combination of alluvial, loam and clay soils and the extended growing season created by fog allows grapes to ripen fully while retaining balanced acidity and bright fruit.

Fog Mountain Merlot California is made predominantly from Merlot grapes sourced across California’s premium vineyard regions, especially the North Coast. After fermentation, the wine is aged for around six months, with a portion of that time in oak to add structure and subtle spice without overpowering the fruit. The wine displays enticing aromas of baked plums, black cherry and dark berries with hints of vanilla oak. On the palate it is medium bodied with soft, well structured tannins and balanced acidity. This approachable Merlot pairs well with grilled pork, roast lamb, tomato based pasta dishes and mature cheeses.
