Famille Perrin Coudoulet de Beaucastel 2021
Produced by Famille Perrin in the southern Rhône Valley, Coudoulet de Beaucastel 2021 comes from vineyards bordering Château de Beaucastel in Côtes du Rhône. Often described as “Baby Beaucastel”, the wine is widely regarded as offering quality beyond many standard Châteauneuf-du-Pape bottlings due to its old vines, low yields and exceptional terroir. The vineyards are planted on limestone, clay and the galets roulés stones associated with neighbouring Châteauneuf-du-Pape. The cooler 2021 vintage brought freshness, aromatic precision and refined structure.
Made from a classic southern Rhône blend dominated by Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah and Cinsault, fermentation takes place in stainless steel and oak vats with gentle extraction to preserve balance and finesse. The wine is aged for around six months in large oak foudres before bottling. The 2021 vintage shows aromas of blackberry, plum and black cherry alongside pepper, garrigue and subtle earthy spice. The palate is fresh and structured with polished tannins, vibrant acidity and a long savoury finish. It pairs beautifully with roast lamb, grilled meats and Provençal dishes.
