Description

Esprit de Cloche Pomerol 2015 comes from the Pomerol appellation on Bordeaux’s Right Bank, an area characterised by small, family owned vineyards planted predominantly to Merlot. The vineyards sit on a mix of gravel, sand and the region’s distinctive clay subsoils, often with iron-rich “crasse de fer” deposits that contribute depth and structure. The estate follows a traditional, sustainably minded approach in the vineyard, with careful canopy management and reduced chemical intervention rather than certified organic or biodynamic farming. Pomerol’s temperate maritime climate allows for slow, even ripening, producing wines of richness and finesse.

The 2015 vintage in Pomerol was widely regarded as excellent, marked by a warm, dry summer and well timed rainfall in late August that supported balanced ripening and healthy fruit concentration. Esprit de Cloche Pomerol 2015 is typically a Merlot-dominant blend with a smaller proportion of Cabernet Franc, fermented in stainless steel or concrete vats before ageing in French oak barrels for around 12 to 18 months. The wine shows ripe plum, blackberry and black cherry fruit, layered with cedar, cocoa and subtle earthy notes. The palate is supple and rounded with fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. It pairs well with roast beef, duck confit, game dishes and mature cheeses.
