Esporao Bico Amarelo Tinto Vinho Verde
Herdade do Esporão, founded in 1973 in Portugal’s Alentejo region, is one of the country’s leading producers, known for its commitment to sustainable viticulture and minimal intervention winemaking. The Bico Amarelo range focuses on expressing the character of the Vinho Verde region in northern Portugal, where a cool Atlantic climate, abundant rainfall and granite based soils produce naturally fresh, vibrant wines. Esporão is widely recognised for its environmentally responsible practices, with a strong emphasis on sustainability and many wines suitable for vegan consumers. The vineyards for this wine are sourced from across Vinho Verde’s diverse subregions, benefiting from mineral soils and maritime influence.
Esporão Bico Amarelo Tinto is a light, fresh red made from a blend of Espadeiro, Padeiro and Borraçal grapes. The grapes are hand harvested and fermented with whole clusters at controlled temperatures, followed by full malolactic fermentation and ageing in stainless steel for around 4 months. No oak, added sugar or carbonation is used, preserving natural purity and vibrancy. The wine shows bright cherry colour with aromas of strawberry, redcurrant and wild berries. The palate is lively and refreshing with soft texture and a clean finish. Best served slightly chilled, it pairs well with charcuterie, soft cheeses and grilled poultry.
