Dorli Muhr Ried Spitzerberg Liebkind 1OTW 2016

Weingut Dorli Muhr (formerly Muhr-van der Niepoort) is a boutique, family-owned estate in Austria’s Carnuntum region who have been practising certified organic viticulture since 2018. The Prellenkirchen Liebkind vineyard on Spitzerberg consists of old Blaufränkisch vines on limestone soils and benefits from a wind-swept, continental climate that yield elegant, terroir-driven wines.

The grapes for Prellenkirchen Liebkind Blaufränkisch 2016 were hand-harvested then gently pressed with some stems in open fermentation vats where spontaneous fermentation took place. Aged for 20 months in large old barrels before being bottled unfiltered. The wine shows a dark garnet hue, pickled cherries, red forest fruit and orange zest, with fine tannins, lively minerals and excellent ageing. Try with roast duck, game ragù, aged Gouda or mushroom risotto.
