Domaine du Chateau Philippe le Hardi Clos de la Chaise Dieu Blanc 2023

Clos de la Chaise Dieu is a historic walled vineyard in the southern Côte de Beaune, among the distinctive parcels of Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi. The site combines limestone-rich soils with a sheltered position, giving Chardonnay a natural balance between ripe fruit and freshness. After the generosity of 2022, the more classically balanced 2023 vintage produced fruit with excellent aromatic definition and a particularly appealing sense of lift.

The wine leads with white peach, fresh pear and lemon zest, followed by yellow apple, almond and delicate floral notes. Its texture is supple and rounded, but the palate remains bright and energetic, with fresh acidity giving definition through the middle and a gently mineral finish. Compared with the fuller 2022, the 2023 is more linear and refreshing, making it particularly approachable now while retaining the structure and concentration to develop further in bottle.
