Domaine du Chateau Philippe le Hardi Clos de la Chaise Dieu Blanc 2022
Clos de la Chaise Dieu is a historic enclosed vineyard at the foot of the Côte de Beaune, and one of the distinctive parcels farmed by Domaine du Château Philippe le Hardi. The estate takes its name from Philippe le Hardi, whose 1395 decree helped shape Burgundy’s viticultural identity. The Chardonnay here benefits from a combination of limestone-rich soils and a relatively sheltered position, giving the wine both generosity and freshness.
The warm, dry 2022 vintage produced ripe, expressive fruit, with the wine showing yellow apple, pear and white peach alongside lemon curd, toasted almond and subtle spice. Its texture is generous and rounded, yet lively acidity keeps the palate remarkably composed. As it opens, more savoury and mineral nuances emerge beneath the fruit, leading to a long, gently saline finish. A polished and characterful white Burgundy with the richness of 2022 balanced by enough freshness to remain precise.
