Domaine de Belliviere L Effraie 2022

Domaine de Bellivière was founded in 1995 by Éric and Christine Nicolas. It has become a benchmark for terroir driven wines. The estate farms organically and biodynamically, focusing on biodiversity and soil vitality. Their vineyards are located in the northern part of Torraine in Jasnières and Coteaux du Loir and are planted mainly on flinty clay and limestone ideal for Chenin Blanc.

L’Effraie is crafted from Chenin Blanc which is grown on flinty soils. The grapes are harvested by hand to assure quality with fermentation being carried out using indigenous yeasts. This is followed by ageing for 12 months in used oak barrels to enhance the texture of the wine without overpowering freshness. The wine shows ripe pear, quince, citrus zest, and honeyed notes with crisp minerality. Pairs beautifully with shellfish, poultry, goat’s cheese or creamy pasta dishes.
