Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue Bonnes Mares 2013
Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, one of Burgundy’s most revered estates, traces its roots back to 1450 and remains family owned today. Based in Chambolle-Musigny the domaine is managed by François Millet and Eric Bourgogne who continue its commitment to meticulous vineyard care and traditional craftsmanship. Though not certified organic or biodynamic sustainable viticulture is practised with an emphasis on soil health, biodiversity and minimal chemical use. The Bonnes-Mares Grand Cru vineyard straddles Chambolle-Musigny and Morey-Saint-Denis, producing wines known for their depth, power and finesse.
The 2013 Bonnes-Mares was crafted from low-yielding Pinot Noir vines, hand-harvested and vinified with partial whole-cluster fermentation. The wine was aged for around 16 to 18 months in French oak barrels with around one third new, to enhance texture and complexity without over powering the fruit. Now entering its prime the 2013 vintage shows dark cherry, black raspberry and violet aromas with earthy mineral undertones. The palate is elegant yet powerful with supple tannins, bright acidity and a lingering finish. Drinking beautifully now but capable of further evolution. Pairs perfectly with roast duck, venison or wild mushroom dishes.
