Domaine Chevrot Maranges Blanc 2019
Domaine Chevrot is a small, family-run estate based in Cheilly-lès-Maranges, now led by brothers Pablo and Vincent Chevrot. The family has worked these vineyards for generations, but the brothers have developed a particularly thoughtful approach to farming, favouring biodiversity, healthy soils and minimal intervention. Their wines are certified organic and biodynamic, and their work has helped demonstrate the potential of the Côte de Beaune’s southern villages beyond the better-known appellations.
This Chardonnay comes from Maranges, where limestone and marl soils provide a firm mineral foundation. The 2019 vintage was warm and sunny, giving the wine plenty of ripe fruit and concentration while retaining the freshness needed for balance. White peach, ripe apple and citrus are complemented by hazelnut, subtle floral notes and a gentle savoury character. Rounded and textured, the palate has enough acidity to keep the richness in check, finishing with a clean mineral lift. A beautifully mature example of Maranges Blanc with far more depth than the appellation might suggest.
