Domaine Bohn L´Orange Gaulois 2023
Domaine Bohn is a family-owned estate in Reichsfeld, Alsace, with a history of viticulture spanning over three centuries. Managed by Bernard and his son Arthur, the domaine farms around nine hectares on steep, schist, sandstone and volcanic soils in the Vosges foothills. Certified organic since 2018 and practising sustainable, low-intervention viticulture, the estate hand-harvests grapes, encourages biodiversity in the vineyards, and produces wines naturally, making them vegan-friendly.
L’Orange Gaulois 2023 is an orange wine made from approximately 90% Gewürztraminer and 10% Riesling. The Gewürztraminer grapes undergo extended skin contact for about three weeks before pressing, and the wine is then aged for around nine months in seasoned oak or large foudres with native yeast fermentation. It is bottled unfined and unfiltered with no added sulphur. The wine has a pale amber colour with aromas of orange peel, stone fruit and floral notes, a dry, textured palate and bright acidity. It pairs well with spiced dishes, grilled seafood, roast poultry or aromatic cheeses and is best served lightly chilled.
