Domaine Bertrand Bachelet Chassagne-Montrachet 2021

Domaine Bertrand Bachelet is a family-run Burgundian estate producing elegant whites and reds from small, well-sited parcels around Chassagne-Montrachet. The Chassagne cuvée draws fruit from La Canière and Les Lombardes, planted on iron-rich clay and limestone soils that lend minerality and structure. Vineyards are managed with careful, sustainable viticulture and some organically tended parcels; the domaine is not uniformly biodynamic and the wines are not universally vegan-certified.

The 2021 Chassagne-Montrachet is 100% Chardonnay, hand-harvested, gently pressed and fermented with attention to freshness. The wine spends around sixteen months ageing in a variety of French oak barrels (roughly one fifth new) to add texture while preserving terroir clarity. Expect orchard fruits, lemon zest, white flowers and a touch of toast, with fine acidity and a mineral finish. Serve with salmon, shellfish, poultry in sauce or soft cheeses.
