Diplomático Planas is produced at Destilerías Unidas S.A. in the foothills of the Andes Mountains near La Miel, Venezuela. Established in 1959, the distillery has earned an international reputation for crafting premium rums using locally sourced sugar cane molasses and sugar cane honey. The region’s tropical climate, fertile soils and abundant rainfall provide ideal growing conditions, while the producer has implemented sustainability initiatives focused on efficient energy use, water conservation and responsible waste management.
Diplomático Planas is a premium white rum distilled using a combination of copper pot stills and column stills to achieve both richness and elegance. The spirit is matured for up to six years in oak casks before undergoing careful charcoal filtration to remove its colour while preserving its complexity. Expect aromas of fresh coffee, coconut and citrus, followed by a smooth palate of tropical fruit, vanilla and light spice with a clean, creamy finish. It works perfectly in classic rum cocktails such as a Daiquiri or Mojito.
