Yves Cuilleron Condrieu 'La Petite Cote' 2024
Perched on one of Condrieu's spectacular granite amphitheatres, La Petite Côte captures everything that has made this tiny appellation the world's benchmark for Viognier. The steep, terraced vineyard demands almost entirely manual work, with every vine carefully tended to preserve the delicate balance between richness and freshness that defines great Condrieu. Yves Cuilleron has been one of the leading figures in the appellation's modern renaissance, helping restore its international reputation through meticulous vineyard management and an unwavering commitment to expressing each individual site. This vintage highlights the vineyard's remarkable elegance, producing a wine of exceptional aromatic purity, mineral precision and refined texture.
Made from 100% Viognier, the wine is fermented with indigenous yeasts before ageing on its fine lees in French oak, where careful élevage adds texture and complexity without overshadowing the fruit. The nose is intensely perfumed, offering layers of white peach, apricot, ripe pear and citrus blossom alongside honeysuckle, jasmine, acacia, fresh almond and delicate spice. Despite its richness, the palate remains beautifully poised, with vibrant acidity and a pronounced granite-driven freshness carrying the wine towards a long, silky and saline finish. Rich yet remarkably refined, it demonstrates why Condrieu remains the ultimate expression of Viognier. It pairs beautifully with lobster, scallops, turbot, roast chicken with morels, creamy cheeses and delicately spiced Asian cuisine.
