Clos de Mont Rachet Macon Village 2022
Le Clos de Mont-Rachet is located in the town of Savigny sur Grosne at a place called Mont-Rachet. It is one of the oldest vineyards which was exploited by the monks of Cluny Abbey. At the time, each row of vines had to make one “work”, or 480 feet per row (480 m). Its name “Mont-Rachet” or “Mont Bald” testifies to the original aridity of the soil.
The 6 ha vineyard faces South-East. The soils of Clos de Mont-Rachet are clay-limestone, predominantly limestone. The earth is fine. Its very light color, reinforced by the white stones which punctuate the rows of vines, has earned it the term “white land” by the ancients. Macon Villages is produced with the Chardonnay grape variety.
