Château Siran, a historic estate in the Margaux appellation on the left bank of Bordeaux has been managed by the same family (the Miailhe) since 1859. The 25 hectare vineyard lies on the ridge of the Labarde plateau, on fine siliceous gravel and old alluvial soils topped with sand and pebbles. Sustainable viticulture is practised throughout the estate, with a portion of parcels under organic cultivation since 2018, limiting chemical inputs and working vine by vine to reflect the terroir’s subtle variations.

The 2020 Château Siran Magnum is a blend of approximately 47% Merlot, 43% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. Grapes are hand harvested and sorted, then vinified parcel by parcel in temperature controlled stainless steel vats, followed by an extended maceration and malolactic fermentation partially in oak barrels. The wine is aged for around 12 months in French oak (35% new), allowing structure to integrate with elegance. On the nose and palate it reveals fresh dark berry fruit, cassis and plums, with subtle cedar, spice and a graphite undertone. The tannins are refined and silky, with balanced acidity and a long finish. This wine pairs beautifully with roast lamb or beef, game, rich stews, or mature cheeses.
