Chateau Potensac Medoc 2001
The estate sits on a gravel rich plateau in the northern Médoc. Its vineyards extend over around 84 hectares on a terroir of limestone subsoil overlain with clay and gravel. The estate has belonged to the Delon family for generations.
The 2001 vintage of Château Potensac is a classic Médoc blend drawn from typical plantings: predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Grapes were hand harvested, vinified in temperature controlled vats with extended maceration, then matured in French oak for about 14–16 months before bottling. As the wine has aged, expect evolved notes of blackcurrant, cedar, tobacco, cedar leaf and gentle earthiness, with softened tannins and a deep, mature character. It pairs very well with roast beef, lamb, hearty stews, game or mature cheeses.
