Chateau Olivier Pessac Leognan 2009
Château Olivier is a historic estate in the Pessac Léognan appellation of Bordeaux, with origins dating back to the 14th century and a legacy of producing both red and white wines. Its vineyards lie on Garonne gravel soils, interspersed with clay and sand, ideal for Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot to thrive with structure and elegance.
The 2009 Château Olivier is a Bordeaux blend, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot and small amounts of Cabernet Franc. Grapes are hand harvested, fermented in stainless steel and concrete vats, then aged in French oak barrels for approximately 18 months to 2 years, allowing the tannins to soften and the wine to mature gracefully. Expect aromas of blackcurrant, tobacco, cedar and hints of earth and leather, a rich, velvety palate with dark fruit, leather and spice, and a long, structured finish. This wine pairs beautifully with roast beef, venison, mushroom dishes, game or aged cheeses.
